2014 events
In September Lawn Hill and Riversleigh organized and hosted a very succesful anual open day.
This year we celebrated with Treavon Thompson and Shane O'Keefe for receiving there certificate II. Barwoo Evans and Gerald Aplin were also awarded there hard earned certificate.
Several neighbours and the MMG mine were in attendence, as were some familiy members of the graduates.
Lawn Hill and Riversleigh would like to thank everyone for attending.
Lawn Hill Station participated in the Gregory Campdraft.
We supplied cattle and our staff to help out in the yards or were needed.
Past event
In 2004 LHRPHC initiated an Indigenous cattle drive from Julia Creek to Longreach, a journey of nearly 500 kilometers with 1,200 steers. Three Indigenous cattle companies were involved including:
Extensive support was provided by Centacare in Mount Isa.
The aim of the trip was to give more Indigenous Youth the opportunity to participate in the Company’s personal development programs and to show case 3 independently successful Aboriginal owned pastoral companies which were investing in the future of their youth. In all 36 young Aboriginal men participated. A substantial amount of funds were raised for the sponsorship of scholarships. 12 participants continued their involvement by undergoing a 7 week training program at the Longreach Agricultural College at the conclusion of the cattle drive.
